The telecommunication networks and services of the 21st century are becoming more personalized, sophisticated, and globalized due to the advancement of wireline, wireless, and communication software technologies. The effective operations and management of these networks and services have become very critical issues to network operators, equipment vendors, and even to customers.

APNOMS (Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium) is a new form where researchers and practitioners in the Asia-Pacific region get together, present their work, and share their ideas and views on the field of network operations and management. APNOMS'97 features timely and highly relevant tutorials, keynote speeches by distinguished experts, technical sessions which include TMN technology, broadband (ATM and SDH) network management, service management, Internet management, Web-based management and distributed systems management.
